Nausea and Vomiting

Indications: nausea or vomiting

Dimenhydrinate (Gravol): If the patient is ≥ 25kg, with an unaltered LOA and does not have allergy or sensitivity to dimenhydrinate and has not overdosed on antihistamines, anticholinergics or tricyclic antidepressants and weighs ≥ 25kg but < 50kg administer 25mg IV or IM.

If the patient weighs ≥ 50kg or more then administer 50mg IV or IM.

If the patient is less than an ACP may patch to BHP for authorization and dosing instructions.

Clinical Considerations: Before administering dimenhydrinate (50mg/1ml concentration) via IV dilute it 1:9 with normal saline or sterile water.
