Croup

Indications: Severe respiratory distress and stridor at rest and current history of upper respiratory tract infection and barking cough or recent history of barking cough.

Epinephrine: If the patient is < 8 years of age and has a HR < 200BPM and does not have an allergy or sensitivity to epinephrine administer 1 dose only of epinephrine 1:1000 via nebulizer.

If the patient is < 1 year of age and weighs < 5kg administer 0.5mg epinephrine 1:1000 via nebulizer.

If the patient is < 1 year but weighs ≥ 5kg administer 2.5mg epinephrine 1:1000 via nebulizer.

If the patient is ≥ 1 year of age but < 8 years of age administer 5mg epinephrine 1:1000 via nebulizer.

The minimum volume of fluid for nebulization is 2.5ml.
