Indications: Moderate to severe respiratory distress and suspected acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema.
Nitro-glycerine: If the patient is ≥ 18 years of age with an unaltered LOA, has a HR between 60BPM and 159BPM, has a prior history of Nitro use (or has an IV established) and has no known sensitivity to nitrates and has not used a phosphodiesterase inhibitor in the past 48 hours then Nitro-glycerine may be administered as follows:
- If the patient has a systolic BP ≥ 100mmHg but < 140mmHg with a history of previous nitro use or has an IV established administer 0.3mg to 0.4mg Nitro SL to a maximum of 6 doses.
- If the patient has a systolic BP ≥ 140mmHg and with a history of previous nitro use or has an IV established administer 0.6mg to 0.8mg Nitro SL to a maximum of 6 doses.
If systolic BP drops by one third or more of its initial value then discontinue use.
